Ooredoo’s AI Cloud Propels Qatar’s Digital Innovation Drive

Ooredoo has introduced a cutting-edge sovereign AI cloud service in Qatar, leveraging advanced Nvidia Hopper GPUs. This service, hosted locally, enhances national data policies and supports crucial sectors like energy, finance, logistics, healthcare, and smart cities. This initiative aligns with Qatar’s Digital Agenda 2030 and the National AI Strategy, underscoring the country’s commitment to technological advancement.

The cloud service is powered by Nvidia, ensuring robust AI capabilities while hosted locally by data center company, Syntys. Syntys was formed from a Ooredoo spin-out with backing from Iron Mountain. Previously, Ooredoo operated 26 data centers across the Middle East, and Syntys aims to expand capacity significantly.

With the launch, customers in Qatar can now access high-performance AI infrastructure without the need for international resources. This advancement provides faster and more secure handling of extensive data sets, complying with national regulations. Additionally, Ooredoo’s status as an Nvidia Cloud Partner enables access to GPU technology and Nvidia’s comprehensive AI development tools, including the Nvidia AI Enterprise platform. This platform simplifies AI model building, testing, and scaling.

Moreover, this AI cloud service supports Qatar’s aspirations outlined in its digital and AI strategies. As Sheikh Ali Bin Jabor Al-Thani, CEO of Ooredoo Qatar, notes: “We are proud to bring this world-class AI infrastructure to Qatar, equipping our customers with the tools they need to turn ambition into real-world solutions. Our collaboration with Nvidia paves the way for a new generation of innovation, empowering everyone from startups to government entities to benefit from the full potential of artificial intelligence, securely and efficiently.”
