Canal+ Telecom Expands Fibre Network with Nokia Partnership

Canal+ Telecom is set to enhance its fibre network across French Guiana and Guadeloupe by deploying Nokia’s Lightspan and Altiplano solutions. This initiative aims to create a more advanced and efficient network capable of meeting the rising demand for high-speed internet while integrating greater automation into its operations.

The company plans to roll out Nokia’s Lightspan Mini Optical Line Terminal (OLT) to accelerate the expansion of Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) services in the region. The compact design of the Lightspan Mini OLT makes it well-suited for island settings and areas with lower population density. Additionally, the fibre solution is designed to support future upgrades to 25G PON technology when necessary.

To optimize network performance, Canal+ Telecom will also integrate Nokia’s Altiplano platform, which offers automation capabilities to detect and address network issues proactively. This system is designed to improve reliability, minimize disruptions, and enhance overall service quality by predicting potential problems before they arise.

Laurent Champouret, Head of Network and Fixed Access Engineering at Canal+ Telecom, emphasized that the company is leading the way in intelligent network automation in the Caribbean. He expressed excitement about the partnership with Nokia, which he believes will drive digital transformation across the region.

Matthieu Bourguignon, Senior Vice-President of Network Infrastructure at Nokia, highlighted the significance of the collaboration, stating that it represents a major step toward a more connected future for businesses and residents in French Guiana, Martinique, and Guadeloupe. He reaffirmed Nokia’s commitment to delivering reliable, secure, and innovative broadband solutions to its customers.
