Another of the country’s challenges is water management. Google Research recently launched an AI model to predict flooding using satellite images that measure water levels in rivers. Predictions can happen even seven days in advance and alert people in the area through Search, Maps and Android push notifications. We’re now working with the National Meteorological System which depends on CONAGUA, Mexico’s National Water Commission, to ultimately use this model to protect the most vulnerable communities.
Weather concerns aren’t just about floods. Searches related to weather are some of the most popular year after year in Latin America. That’s why we just launched Google Nowcasting in Mexico. This AI-powered tool offers real-time weather forecasts with high accuracy.
Getting AI in the hands of more Mexicans
AI is a powerful tool to help solve complex challenges. Starting today, we’re bringing our most powerful AI search experience, AI Mode, to Mexico with our latest language expansion to Spanish. With the advanced multimodal and reasoning capabilities of our custom version of Gemini 2.5 in Search, AI Mode helps people ask even their most complex questions in new ways, with prominent links to the web to explore further, making Search even more helpful.
We’re also using AI to make it even more effortless to overcome language barriers in the Translate app (for Android and iOS). Using advanced voice and speech recognition capabilities of our latest Gemini models, we’re bringing two new features to Translate in Mexico to help with live conversations and language learning. We introduced improvements to our live translate capabilities, to make it even easier to have a back-and-forth conversation in real time with audio and on-screen translations in the Translate app. And to help Spanish speakers learn English, we just released a new language practice experience in Translate, which creates tailored listening and speaking practice sessions.
Additionally, we’re introducing Google AI Plus, our newest plan designed to help people in Mexico do more with Google AI, for less. It includes Gemini’s powerful assistance built right into Google apps like Gmail, Docs and Sheets. For students and researchers, AI Plus provides access to Gemini 2.5 Pro and more features in NotebookLM, helping them get insights and summaries from their documents faster than ever.
And to make the latest technology available to Mexicans, we just launched Google Pixel in Mexico. Mexico is the first country in Latin America to get access to the Google Pixel suite of products. And with the arrival of Google Pixel 10, we’re giving users Google’s most advanced AI to help them every day.
Expanding Google Mexico
Our work in Mexico is a testament to the incredible local talent here. To mark our 20th anniversary, we’re continuously expanding our team, which has led to a new office space in Polanco, Mexico City, in the near future.
We’re proud to invest in the future of Mexican innovation and create opportunities for local talent to build projects with international impact. So today, just as it was two decades ago, our commitment is to work together with the people who make Mexico grow, harnessing technology and AI to build a brighter future for Mexico.
