Lulu India Shopping Mall Pvt. Ltd., Lucknow, has added another prestigious achievement to its name by being awarded the Green Building Certification with a Gold Rating by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC). The recognition was formally announced in the presence of Mall Manager Mr. Naveen Sukhija and Chief Engineer Mr. Sopan Dev Bharti.
The certification was awarded under the IGBC Green Existing Buildings O&M Rating System, which promotes the adoption of green practices in existing commercial buildings. This system focuses on national sustainability priorities such as waste management, water conservation, energy efficiency, reduction in the use of fossil fuels, and the preservation of natural resources.
The Lulu Mall, Lucknow project was rigorously assessed as per the IGBC’s rating framework and successfully achieved a GOLD Rating, a testament to its continued commitment to sustainable and eco-friendly operations.
“We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Lulu Mall, Lucknow, on this significant milestone,” said a representative from IGBC. “This accomplishment highlights the mall’s dedication to fostering a green and sustainable environment.”
As a part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), IGBC has been at the forefront of India’s green building movement since 2001. Today, India boasts the world’s second-largest registered green building footprint, with over 13.56 billion sq. ft.—a feat made possible through the support of environmentally conscious stakeholders like Lulu Mall.
In light of the increasing importance of green and net-zero buildings in achieving India’s target of becoming a net-zero nation by 2070, CII-IGBC is organizing the 3rd Edition of the GreenTech Summit 2025 – “Greening the Future: Accelerating Sustainable Growth” on 2nd May 2025 at The Lalit Hotel, New Delhi. This summit aims to bring together industry leaders, innovators, and policymakers to discuss strategies for a sustainable built environment.
