Indosat Partners with Xanh SM to Boost EV Fleet Efficiency

Indonesian mobile operator Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison joined forces with Vietnamese electric taxi company Xanh SM. This collaboration marks significant progress in enhancing the operational efficiency of Xanh SM’s electric vehicle fleet in Indonesia. Through this partnership, Indosat aims to provide a comprehensive suite of IT, IoT, and analytics solutions. These tools are designed to improve the customer experience and taxi operation efficiency.

Indosat’s offerings include SIM cards specifically for Xanh SM taxi units. Additionally, they will provide customized mobile packages for drivers. All data management will be handled by Indosat’s Card Management Platform, featuring Cisco’s IoT Control Center. By integrating various IoT solutions into the fleet, the service will now offer valuable driving data. Parameters like speed, acceleration, and vehicle behavior can be monitored. Any anomaly or potential issue can be quickly identified to ensure safety and improve efficiency.

To comprehend and use the collected data effectively, Indosat will employ analytics technology. This will enhance customer profiling, behavioral analysis, and targeted ad campaigns. Initially, the project will go through a six-month pilot phase prior to a broader deployment of the optimized technologies.

Xanh SM, a relatively new player since 2023, has seen rapid growth. By mid-2024, its fleet numbered over 30,000 electric taxis in Vietnam alone. This accounted for more than 40% of the country’s taxi operations. Following this success, Xanh SM expanded its reach into Laos and subsequently Indonesia by the end of 2024.

Muhammad Buldansyah, Director and Chief Business Officer of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, expressed pride in the collaboration that enhances digital transformation and promotes eco-friendly technologies. “This collaboration combines Indosat’s expertise in ICT, IoT, and analytics with Xanh SM’s eco-friendly technologies. The launch of this electric taxi fleet is a significant step in strengthening our commitment to sustainability and green technology to benefit the people of Indonesia.”
