Expanding satellite service capabilities in the Americas has become a key strategy for telecommunications providers. Recently, Intelsat and AXESS Networks, a subsidiary of Hispasat, have taken a significant step in this direction by extending their partnership. This collaboration aims to combine the assets and infrastructure of both companies to ensure reliable and extensive satellite coverage in the region.
The partnership is timely given the increasing demand for dependable connectivity solutions, particularly in areas where traditional infrastructure is challenging to deploy. The companies intend to deliver scalable and robust services to meet diverse communication needs in both rural and urban settings. These efforts form part of a broader renewal agreement with AXESS.
In the context of expanding digitalization, this partnership holds significant promise. “Our collaboration with Intelsat underscores our commitment to delivering world-class satellite solutions. We are proud to work together to enhance the customer experience and provide top-tier connectivity to our clients,” stated Guido Neumann, General Manager at AXESS EMEA, in a press release.
From a strategic standpoint, this collaboration comes after Hispasat’s acquisition of AXESS Networks in 2022. Hispasat’s acquisition aligns with its 2020-25 Strategic Plan, aiming to transform the company into a holistic provider of satellite solutions and services.
While the potential benefits of this collaboration are immense, relying on satellite-based solutions does come with its set of challenges. Weather interference and higher latency compared to fiber-optic systems can affect service quality. However, the combined expertise and assets of Intelsat and AXESS are likely to mitigate these issues by enhancing network reliability and reach.
Rhys Morgan, RVP EMEA Sales at Intelsat, mirrored this optimism. “Our quality of service speaks for itself in this expanded partnership with AXESS. This agreement reaffirms our commitment to delivering seamless, reliable solutions just as we do today and into the future,” he said.
