Nokia, Digita, and CoreGo Bring Private 5G Networks to Big Events

Nokia and Finnish network provider Digita are partnering with payment and access control company CoreGo to roll out private 5G networks at major events in Finland and abroad. The goal is to enhance connectivity and streamline services such as payment processing, ticket validation, and access control by integrating CoreGo’s point-of-sale systems with Nokia’s Digital Automation Cloud.

Digita will handle deployment of the mobile private networks, which are designed to offer secure and reliable data transmission for event infrastructure. These systems support essential event operations, including inventory tracking and the use of digital signage, ensuring smooth experiences for attendees and staff alike.

Private 5G networks are becoming vital tools for large-scale public gatherings, providing uninterrupted real-time data flow. They also enable advanced analytics, location-based services, and enhanced communication among event staff. The networks can be moved between venues, giving organizers flexibility in setup and scalability for different events.

Nokia’s Michael Aspinall emphasized the role of private 5G in transforming the event landscape, citing successful past collaborations with Digita and CoreGo. Pekka Koskinen of Digita echoed this, highlighting the reliability and scalability of the Nokia technology and its importance in supporting Digita’s expansion into Nordic markets.

The announcement comes as the global private RAN market sees strong growth. Analyst firm Dell’Oro recently reported that revenues in this sector surged over 40% in 2024, signaling increasing enterprise interest. While still a small portion of the overall RAN market, private 5G is gaining traction as a critical enabler of next-generation event connectivity.
