Nokia-Leonardo Alliance Transforms Private 4G/5G Solutions

In a significant move, Nokia has teamed with the defense giant Leonardo to enhance its private 4G and 5G offerings. This collaboration brings forth a robust, Europe-made communication solution tailored for critical industries such as public safety, rail, energy, and defense.

Nokia has incorporated Leonardo’s high-security team-communication platform into its advanced private network deployment framework, identified as the Core Enterprise Solution (NCES). These setups match the scale of networks managed by national operators. They provide features such as real-time push-to-anything functionality and seamless interoperability with public carriers, aiming to meet the rigors of critical industry needs.

The MC_linX platform by Leonardo is at the core of this integration. It’s a pre-tested, certified solution that enhances Nokia’s network capabilities with 3GPP-based push-to-talk, video, and data services. This equips industries with the tools necessary for effective team coordination and emergency response. The solution underscores its mission-critical focus, making it indispensable for industries that demand rigorous security and reliability.

According to Leonardo, this partnership reaffirms the “made in Europe” claim, providing a credible alternative to US and Chinese solutions. Such positioning is crucial for regions emphasizing secure networking and communication tools. Claudio Rando, from Leonardo, remarked on the partnership, “(we are) thrilled that Nokia selected Leonardo’s MC_linX for integration into their Core Enterprise Solutions after an in-depth competitive process.”

Further highlighting the significance, Prakash Sagadopan of Nokia explained, “By combining Nokia’s robust private wireless and core software capabilities with Leonardo’s trusted mission-critical technologies, we are delivering a seamless solution that meets the stringent demands of industries like public safety, energy, and rail.”
