SK Telecom, Kpler Innovate AI Intelligence in Telecoms

SK Telecom has sealed a memorandum of understanding with Kpler, a move expected to push forward their AI-based market intelligence strategy. This collaboration is set to reshape how telecoms leverage data for strategic decisions. The signing took place on April 2 at the Lotte Hotel in Seoul, aligning SK Telecom with Kpler’s co-founder Jean Maynier on exploiting cross-industry data through AI.

Kpler’s data intelligence capabilities span over 40 commodities markets, including oil, gas, and maritime logistics. These real-time trade insights are invaluable for optimizing supply chain efficiencies, mitigating risks, and identifying global opportunities. Telecom operators, looking to diversify and digitize their operations, stand to benefit significantly from these insights.

For SK Telecom, this partnership is pivotal in its AI transformation journey. By integrating Kpler’s insights into its large language model platform and data processing stack, the company seeks to develop an enterprise-grade AI market intelligence service. The focus is on their Multi-Agent Control Platform and in-house large language model, adot 4.0.

Additionally, this collaboration supports the ongoing development of SK Telecom and SK C&C’s AI Market Intelligence platform. This B2B AI service forecasts price and supply trends for crucial commodities like LNG, LPG, and crude oil. These insights are crucial as telecom operators transition their energy-intensive infrastructure, such as 5G densification and edge computing.

Scheduled for launch in the first half of this year, the AI Market Intelligence platform will initially support SK Group affiliates. Thereafter, it will extend to external enterprise clients across various sectors, including telecom, energy, semiconductors, and batteries. “This collaboration with Kpler strengthens SK Telecom’s ability to deliver high-impact AI intelligence tailored to the evolving needs of telecom and adjacent industries,” an executive shared. “By merging Kpler’s commodity data with our AI capabilities, we aim to provide telecom stakeholders with precision-driven insights for smarter planning and investment.”
