The Future of EV Batteries

Battery prices have dropped by 90% in the last 15 years, while the energy density of top-tier cells has increased fivefold. Rapid breakthroughs in sodium-ion, lithium-sulfur, and solid-state batteries are driving energy density even higher; thus, manufacturers must quickly adopt future-proof design-for-test solutions.

As each battery cell has different characteristics, depending on their applications, an automated testing strategy is essential to efficiently validate all test parameters for multiple cell types under development.

On Day 1: EV Test Day, Keysight’s Matt Borst will explore the ever-evolving EV battery landscape and showcase how Keysight helps build a sustainable battery value chain with enhanced efficiency.

A 2024 study by Harvard Business School revealed that charging stations in the U.S. have an average reliability score of only 78%, meaning that one in five don’t work. Further complicating the landscape, no harmonized global standard exists to ensure conformability and interoperability for new charging products. How can EV charging developers navigate the dynamic regulatory environment and deploy the right EV/EVSE test equipment?

Keysight’s EV experts, Julian Tomczyk and James Arnold, will provide in-depth insights into the latest challenges and trends in EV charging, including megawatt charging and bidirectional capabilities. They will also demonstrate how Keysight’s holistic solution enables precise emulation of full charging interfaces at various signal and power levels.

Building reliable, secure automotive communication networks

The rise of software-defined vehicles (SDVs) is driving the need for high-bandwidth, low-latency in-vehicle networking (IVN) technologies. As these systems evolve, the number of technologies and protocols has dramatically increased, along with the need for more rigorous testing. A key challenge in automotive communication is the harsh operating environment, where electronics must withstand extreme temperatures (-40°C to 150°C), reduce EMI, and remain immune to noise from other systems.

On Day 2: IVN Test Day, Keysight experts will discuss the latest trends shaping the future of IVN and how our product vision adapts to meet customers’ needs. Attendees will gain practical insights into transmitter vs. linearity testing, advancements in 10BASE-T1S, and the critical role of MACSec in time-sensitive network (TSN) testing.

Next-gen radar sensors in SDVs

Intelligent sensors, energy-efficient processing units, and a robust digital infrastructure form the foundation of SDVs. Radars enable these advancements by relying on flexible, interconnected, and easily reconfigured chips, swappable modules, and accurate perception algorithms. Moreover, these sensors must support autonomous driving functions that deliver a seamless user experience across diverse vehicle platforms. On Day 3: Radar Test Day, Keysight’s Dr. Silviu-Sorin Tuca will explore the lifecycle of automotive radar sensors, from their initial development as individual silicon chips to full vehicle integration and beyond. He will also address the challenges of developing next-generation radars, and introduce a modular, bottom-up development approach paired with a systematic testing strategy.
