The Biggest Mistake People Make When Looking for Their Purpose | by Aline Ra M | Healer, Coach & Spiritual Teacher | The Startup | Mar, 2025

Your Purpose Is Hiding in the Places You Refuse to Look

We spend so much time chasing purpose, as if it’s some hidden prize waiting at the end of a long, exhausting journey. We search for it in career paths, relationships, and self-help books, hoping that one day, clarity will strike like lightning. But what if the entire premise is flawed?

What if you aren’t getting a good answer because the question “What is my purpose?” is the wrong one ?

The question “What is my purpose?” is often the wrong one. It only arises when we feel disconnected from ourselves — when we’ve silenced our desires, diluted our truth, and conformed to what we think life expects from us. When we are lost, we ask ourselves what our purpose is. But the way out of this place is not to ask this — instead, it is to get back to ourselves.

Your purpose is not something to find — it’s for you to let yourself be

Your purpose is not separate from you. It’s not something external you have to go out and find. It is an integral part of who you already are. The more you know yourself — truly know yourself, without shame or hesitation — the more your purpose unfolds naturally, without force, without confusion, and without the endless questioning that keeps so many people stuck.

When you are your authentic self, you just live your purpose. Unfortunately, when you are stuck in labels and thoughts of who you think you are or should be, you disconnect.

Your purpose is not lost to be found — you’re just hiding from yourself

Instead of endlessly searching for purpose as if it’s lost, consider asking yourself:

  • Where am I betraying myself and holding myself back?
  • What do I truly want — not to cope with emotional wounds and other external expectations?
  • Where am I hiding from life instead of fully stepping into the life I want to live?

These questions cut deeper. They take the focus off some abstract concept of “purpose” and bring it back to the one thing that actually matters — your essence, so easily neglected in the modern world of conformity.

Another great place to look into is our frustrations, for they often show us what we are not accepting and dealing with — what we are putting under the carpet in our lives. This tends to be exactly where we are dissociating and disconnecting from our essence.

We often make the mistake of trying to “figure out” our purpose intellectually, as if it’s a problem to be solved. We analyze our skills, weigh our options, and mentally map out potential futures. But purpose doesn’t come from analysis — it comes from alignment.

It lives in the heart.

When you step into yourself, when you stop apologizing for who you are, when you live with integrity instead of compromise — purpose is no longer a question. It’s a life choice — the only life choice.

This is the shift we focus on in Heart Awakening, a course designed to help you strip away everything that is not you so you can fully embody the purpose that has been within you all along. When you stop overthinking and start living from the heart, clarity becomes effortless, for true clarity lives in your heart.

Your heart already knows your purpose — are you listening?

Many people feel lost because they’ve spent years filtering themselves to fit into the world. They dull their passions to seem reasonable. They ignore their instincts to stay comfortable. They make safe choices instead of bold ones, and over time, this quiet self-abandonment builds up.

But here’s the hard truth:

If you are not aware of your purpose, it’s not because you haven’t “found” it. It’s because, in some way, you haven’t found yourself. You haven’t allowed yourself to be yourself.

That day you wanted to dance but thought others would laugh at you. That moment you chose clothes that are not what you want to wear. That moment you didn’t say what you actually believed because your friends wouldn’t accept you. These are simple examples but they illustrate how we constantly put ourselves down, and they all add up. This creates a shield of shame, and each of these moments separate you more and more from your heart.

You don’t need to find your purpose — you need to stop ignoring it

Purpose cannot fully express itself through layers of fear, suppression, and self-doubt. It requires full presence, full honesty, full authenticity.

Living your purpose is not about making a grand discovery — it’s about having the courage to stop holding back.

Your purpose is revealed in every moment you stop betraying yourself. It’s not a destination. It’s not a career. It’s not a title. It’s simply you, fully expressed, in your own light.

And if you’re ready to step into that level of alignment, Heart Awakening is here to guide you back home to yourself. No more searching. No more questioning. Just undeniable clarity.

You don’t need another strategy, another journal, or analytical exercises. You don’t need a perfect plan. You need you — all of you, unfiltered, unafraid, and unwilling to keep living as encaged.

If you’re ready to stop searching and start being, Heart Awakening is here for you. You already have the answers — you just need to clear the noise, and be.
