Cisco and Nvidia Expand AI Partnership for Enterprise Growth

Cisco is strengthening its partnership with Nvidia to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) within enterprises. While businesses realize the growing significance of AI, many still encounter difficulties during the initial stages. These challenges often stem from handling AI-ready data centers, which require advanced technical competencies and robust security measures.

The partnership with Nvidia aims to provide businesses with enhanced flexibility. Organizations can manage AI workloads with high performance, low latency, and energy-efficient connectivity across data centers and cloud environments comfortably. Central to this collaboration is the integration of Nvidia Spectrum-X Ethernet networking platform, combining silicon from both companies. This ensures networks are compatible and simplifies AI infrastructure deployment. It also allows businesses to make better use of existing management tools and processes across networks.

“Enterprises are under immense pressure to deploy AI quickly and effectively, and many leaders struggle to justify the investment while balancing the risks,” noted Chuck Robbins, chair and CEO of Cisco. He believes the collaboration will help customers overcome these challenges. “Together, Cisco and Nvidia are partnering to remove barriers for customers and ensure they can optimize their infrastructure investments to unlock the power of AI.”

Jensen Huang, founder and CEO at Nvidia, underscores the transformative potential of AI across various industries. He says, “Advancing at lightspeed, AI will revolutionize every industry. Together with Cisco’s enterprise platforms and global reach, we can help companies worldwide build state-of-the-art NVIDIA infrastructure as they race to transform with AI.”

The integration promises to offer customers improved network solutions, such as adaptive routing, telemetry, and congestion control. Moreover, it enables low latency, blending with Cisco’s expertise in networking, security, and digital solutions. To further this ambition, Cisco plans on rolling out new data center switches integrating with the Nvidia Spectrum Ethernet platform. This will help enterprises standardize on Spectrum-X networking.

Both companies are committed to addressing key challenges in AI deployment including congestion management and load balancing. A recent survey by Nvidia showed that 97% of telco professionals are either deploying or evaluating deploying AI. It reveals that telecommunications is increasingly leaning towards AI, breaking previous perceptions of the industry’s slow technology adoption. Chiefly, AI investments are aimed at enhancing network planning, operations, and field operations optimization.
